Whoa. If you were wondering where the Meghan Markle hate was coming from — it was coming from inside the house the whole time!
Well, the castle actually…
While Prince Harry was busy celebrating his first Father’s Day with his beautiful bride and their adorable baby Archie, the U.K. media was revealing one of the family’s biggest hurdles.
In an article examining the much ballyhooed feud between Sussex and Cambridge — that is Harry and Meghan vs Prince William and Kate Middleton — the Sunday Times revealed more of the royal family was against the union.
In fact, they claim Prince Philip, Harry’s grandfather and hubby to Her Majesty, got all rom com villain about the whole thing.
Apparently the 98-year-old got all conservative (shocker!) when it came to his grandson bringing an American TV star into the fold.
He is quoted as saying to Harry:
“One steps out with actresses, one doesn’t marry them.”
If they don’t steal that line for Season Twenty of Netflix‘s The Crown, they are leaving gold on the table.
Seriously, can you believe ANY grandpa said that to any grandson who was in love and getting closer to taking that next step?
Let alone one who has lived a lifetime at the head — well, just to the side of the head — of a family who are supposed to be possessed of the unparalleled politeness.
If you ask us, that kind of comment is just BAD MANNERS!
Of course, Philip is not the only Prince who reportedly tried to stop Harry from marrying Meghan.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl, author of the book Harry and Meghan: Life, Loss, and Love, told Fox News at the height of the feud talk that Harry’s own brother’s concerns about Meghan were what started the beef cooking in the first place:
“I’m told from very reliable sources that the relationship has gone through challenging times since Harry started dating Meghan. I’m told that privately William was concerned about how quickly the relationship had moved.”
Did he think she was some kind of gold digger?
“William wanted to make sure that Harry was making the right decision. And I think what was intended as well-meaning, brotherly concern and a bit of advice went down quite badly with Harry, who felt that William wasn’t being as supportive as he might’ve been.”
So that was the beginning of the feud?
When you take that in conjunction with Philip’s comments, you can certainly understand how Harry would take it less as well-meaning and more as… well, mean.
The question is, now that Harry has married Meghan, and the two have a beautiful baby together… has Philip’s outlook changed as we’ve heard William’s has?
What do YOU think??
