WILMINTON, Del.- A Delaware mother is recounting the moments she was savagely attacked while vacationing at a resort in the Dominican Republic back in January through a now viral social media post.
In an interview with the CBS affiliate in Philadelphia, KYW, Tammy Lawrence-Daley, of Wilmington, emotionally retold the horrifying story to warn others of the dangers, especially when traveling abroad.
Lawrence-Daley told KYW that she went downstairs on the Majestic Elegance Resort property to buy a snack, when a man wearing a resort maintenance hat and shirt strangled and beat her. The man then left her there to die, Lawrence-Daley said.
Lawrence-Daley suffered a broken nose, fractured eye socket, nerve damage throughout her head and her entire mouth had to be sewn back together. She said she was left in an underground crawl space with rocks and waster water. The staff of the hotel eventually found her eight hours later.
Lawrence-Daley had one message for others: “To be aware, to be safe and to be smart.”
According to KYW, one of the managers from the resort said she wasn’t aware of the case, so the station sent an email to all of the resort managers. KYW says it is waiting to hear back.
