A wedding is typically meant to be a festive family celebration.
Relatives gather from far and wide to toast a bride and groom, while also reconnection with one another and generally enjoying the company of close friends and loved ones.
But we’re starting to have reasons to think this description may not apply to Jacob Roloff’s upcoming nuptials to Isabel Rock.
Back in September of last year, Roloff and Rocl announced that they were going to get married in September of this year.
How exciting, right?!?
In a Facebook Watch video from July 14, however, Amy explained to followers that she didn’t have the financial means to buy the Roloff farm from her ex-husband, which is why she thought it best to sell the property and find a new house in Portland, Oregon.
(Indeed, tension between Amy and Matt over the future of the farm was the main storyline throughout the latest season of Little People, Big World.)
“I didn’t have it and I definitely didn’t want to deplete all my cash reserves,” Amy said in this video.
What does this have to do with Jacob’s wedding?!?
Amy went on to note that her decision over what to do with her share of the farm boiled down to making sure Jacob would be able to marry Rock there, something she previously assumed would be a given.
However, Amy now hints strongly that this wouldn’t have beent he case if Matt had gained full control of the property early this year.
“When we first agreed to this back in January of 2019… I put down November 1 of 2019, because originally [Matt] had kind of suggested, ‘nope Jacob is not going to get married here,'” Amy told fans in her video, adding:
“And I thought ‘Jacob not married on the farm? What is he talking about?’ All the kids got married on the farm… No way!'”
From there, Amy emphasized her very strong support for her son, who no longer appears on Little People, Big World.
(Jacob quit three years ago, accusing the series of being phony and scripted on his way out.)
“It doesn’t matter what I think about Jacob and Isabel, he is my son, she is going to be my future daughter-in-law,” Amy said, continuing as follows:
“I love them, regardless of whatever they are doing in life and their life choices. They’re great people.”
Sort of an odd phrasing, right?
Jacob and Isabel live a bit like vagabonds, traveling around the Pacific Northwest in their van, camping out often, their dogs in tow.
It sounds here as if Amy doesn’t totally approve; and it sounds for sure as if Matt doesn’t approve… at least from Amy’s vantage point.
In this Facebook video, the veteran reality star revealed that her “guard went up” when she discovered Matt’s disdain with Jacob tying the knot on the farm.
“To make sure that [the wedding] happens [before] November 1, they’re getting married this September,” she says.
Jacob long ago apologized for dissing TLC and his family members when he left Little People, Big World. He acknowledged that he acted in an immature manner.
But tension does still linger between him and a few relatives, most notable Audrey and, perhaps, Matt as well.
The relationship between Jacob and his dad has been rocky since his parents’ divorce, with an insider telling Radar Online awhile back that they “don’t have the best relationship.”
“I think when his parents divorced he put a lot of the blame on his dad,” a source told this celebrity gossip website, adding:
“His mom was hurting for a long time, and he believes Matt was the sole cause of that — like his dad is the one that blew up the whole family. I also know that they don’t really see eye to eye on a lot of things and there’s this tension between them, but they make it work.
“They’re both slowly building on their relationship.”
To end on a positive note, though, Amy concluded in her video that things appear to have gotten better between Matt and Jacob, with the former even getting involved in helping the groom-to-be select his tuxedo.
“So now Matt is into the wedding [and he] just bought Jacob a suit and he looks fantastic,” Amy said, explaining that the rift between them “wasn’t discussed on camera,” but was very much legitimate.
